Difficult Situation Vermaelen in Barcelona
FC Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen says he wants to move from the club since the summer of 2017 but has not received a “green light”.
Thomas Vermaelen spent the 2016-2017 season in AS Roma as a loan player.
As reported by BolaSport.com from Sport, Vermaelen said, he requested that the management of La Blaugrana beralas team is selling it.
In fact, some clubs are interested in the former Arsenal player.
“The clubs said I could not go and have to survive even though there are some clubs interested in me,” said Vermaelen.
The English Premier League team, Everton, and Belgian league club Anderlecht are indicated to be interested in accommodating Vermaelen.
The problem is, Vermaelen’s status in Barcelona is not a core player.
The recurring injury has only made 21 appearances since joining the Catalan club in 2014.
“My situation is tough and I can not play with Barcelona B because it is hampered by the league rules,” said the 31-year-old.
In fact, Vermaelen want to look for opportunities to play glimpsed into the national team of Belgium at the 2018 World Cup.
“Of course I want to play more often to find the rhythm with the national team,” he said.
He also had a talk with Barcelona coach, Ernesto Valverde.
“Valverde is happy to see me practice, Barcelona clubs always need 4-5 central defenders, maybe my situation could change next week,” he said.
